Starting with an optional recap of the year 7\/8 spreadsheets and databases skills, students go on to test a range of data collection techniques in the classroom. A survey is designed to collect quantitative data and built online using the free SurveyMonkey website. A qualitative research project is conducted, collecting data through recorded interviews and focus groups. Students compile local population data from a range of sources and combine mapping data from multiple electronic data sets to build a composite representation. The privacy and security of data is considered before moving onto the creation of a webpage. This final project is fully supported and open-ended, with optional components exploring HTML, CSS and JavaScript interactivity.<\/p>\n<p><em>110pp plus completed spreadsheets, databases and links to final programming solutions online.
