Reading Flashcards

These materials have been designed to develop the music reading of beginner instrumentalists. A 40-bar backing track and flashcards are provided in the keys of D major (for violins), G major (for recorders) and C major (for woodwind, brass, singers or keyboard). The music uses a four-bar pattern, the first three bars being played by the ‘band’. The idea is to show the card on the third bar so that your students can play the notes in the fourth bar, although there are plenty of other ways to utilise the resources. The music notation increases in complexity, gradually introducing crotchets, minims, quavers, rests, ties and dotted notes.
