Web Coding – PHP & SQL

A step-by-step journey through the development of a fully functional database driven website, created for a topic of the students’ own choosing. Using only a free text editor and webhost, we build an online database, test SQL queries, write PHP scripts to gather and organise the data, add HTML to construct the webpages and style them with a little CSS. Although HTML, CSS and programming experience is not essential, any of these skills will help students personalise their websites and take this project further. We provide fully coded example files for each step of the process (i.e. not only the finished products). The project is hugely open-ended; students can take this as far as they like.
